Process set in motion to develop a shared vision for transport, and a common program of action among international organizations. A safe space for discussion and action in transport is created. SuM4All is born.
SuM4All Members discuss the first-ever global assessment of the transport sector. Their first production, the Global Mobility Report 2017 is launched in October 2017
SuM4All Members tackle the “how to” achieve sustainable mobility. Gender is recognized as a dimension of the transport agenda.
Work initiated to develop a “global roadmap of action toward sustainable mobility.” Members commit to contribute to one of the six working groups (urban; rural; gender; efficiency; safety; and green mobility) to produce it.
Members discuss the first draft of the “Global Roadmap of Action (GRA)” and advocate for an extensive consultation strategy with public and private decision-makers.
Members engage live with high-level country and city policy makers on the draft GRA.
As part of the consultation process, the draft GRA is introduced to UN Member States.

A webinar, Policy Making for Data Sharing: A European Perspective, followed on March 16.
Launched “Sustainable Electric Mobility: Building Blocks and Policy Recommendations”. The paper analyzes the main barriers to electric mobility development, identifies essential building blocks for successful policies in the field of electric mobility, and provides policy recommendations for international, national, and local public policy stakeholders. The paper is published in English and Spanish.
Movin’On Summit 2021: SuM4All participated in a high-level panel discussion on “Shifting Behaviors — Transportation Scenarios for a Post-Pandemic World” and led a working session entitled “Driving sustainable mobility in the Global South through the private sector: A case for South Africa” with representatives from the private sector on the South Africa pilot. The session examined ways to support the expansion of public transport.
Launched the “Digital Toolkit for Energy and Mobility” paper in the GRA in Action Series. The toolkit presents best practices to achieve energy efficiency in transport and addresses the nexus between transport and energy.
The 11th SuM4All Consortium Meeting: The meeting sought feedback on SuM4all’s contribution to COP26, with the discussion paper, “Equitable Transition toward Decarbonization in the Global South”.
“Sustainable Mobility Requires a New Policy Approach Today”. The partnership in conjunction with the World Bank’s Open Learning Campus drew more than 600 participants from over 140 countries to join a blended interactive learning course on a new approach to transport policy.
SuM4All hosted a session at the United Nations Sustainable Transport Conference to consult with countries in the Global South on the draft discussion paper produced for COP26.
SuM4All released at COP26 the discussion paper, “Electromobility in the Global South: An Equitable Transition toward Road Passenger Transport Decarbonization,” which seeks to rebalance the debate on electromobility by taking the perspective of the least developed countries in the Global South.
